Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Student Qualitative Researcher with expertise in Geographic Information Systems (GIS). This temporary position is integral to advancing our research projects that focus on identifying and addressing spatial inequalities within structurally excluded communities. The researcher will contribute to the mapping and analysis of data in domains such as housing, health, and education, using GIS tools to provide insights and support policy development.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize GIS technology to create maps and conduct spatial analysis, identifying trends and patterns that impact structurally excluded communities.

  • Collaborate with research teams to design and execute qualitative research strategies, including data collection via surveys and interviews.

  • Analyze qualitative data to derive actionable insights, and assist in drafting reports and presentations for a diverse range of stakeholders.

  • Engage with community members and stakeholders to validate findings and incorporate diverse perspectives into research outputs.

  • Maintain detailed documentation of research methods and data analysis procedures, ensuring transparency and reproducibility.



Qualifications:

  • Enrollment in or recent graduation from an undergraduate or graduate program in Geography, Urban Planning, Social Sciences, or a related field, with a significant focus on GIS.

  • Proficiency in GIS software and tools, with the ability to manipulate and analyze complex datasets.

  • Experience in conducting qualitative research, including planning, data collection, and analysis.

  • Strong communication skills, capable of effectively presenting research findings and collaborating with a diverse team.

  • Commitment to principles of equity, inclusivity, and social justice.
